Just a warning not to buy this DVD set, I am not slating Russell Stutely, some of his material is valuable (if not overpriced) but this definitely is not. I have only finished DVD 1 of 2 but to break it down:
DVD 1
1) The jelly fish – this is just a visualization technique used when slapping someone
2) The injection – this is yet another visualization technique when striking a pressure point
3) BAR – essentially a slap to the forehead instead of a block for a punch after being grabbed. A traditional simultaneous block and strike will work just as well.
4) A few pressure point techniques, i wont argue whether this is street practical or not.
5) Dropping someones energy levels – in a real fight scenario i would rather use a voodoo doll than use this technique. Perhaps there is some visualization trick I am missing because it seems like complete rubbish to me.
6) Using five fingers to strike – has workable applications but in my opinion it is inferior to other options. It wouldn’t be high up on my choice of methods to attack.
7) Dermatones – A basic principle dressed up but the most sensible and practical content on the dvd
DVD 2: Will update once watched, at least the one armed spinning strangle seems practical. Maybe a grappler would disagree, I am a striker so I am not so clued up on choke techniques.
